The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Center No. 39, located in the Sadikpur Gram Panchayat and serving the Kachararipara village, is facing serious allegations of negligence regarding the preparation of meals for children. Reports from the local community indicate that the food items used in the center, including rice, pulses, cooking oil, and chattu, are not only of poor quality but may have already expired. Such unsafe practices present a significant health risk to the children who consume these meals, potentially leading to severe health problems. This troubling situation has persisted for an extended period; however, it has recently come under scrutiny as villagers have begun to recognize the gravity of the issue and express their dissatisfaction.
Upon learning about the consumption of these substandard food items, the villagers took swift action by collectively deciding to halt the cooking at the center. They began inspecting the food supplies being used and meticulously recorded the discrepancies they found. This proactive stance by the villagers sparked widespread frustration and concern, prompting them to raise their voices to local officials about the unacceptable conditions at the center. It has come to light that Jayanthi Saha, an employee at Center No. 39, has been directly involved in these irregularities for a significant period, leading to increased tension and unrest in the community.
Furthermore, the Center Assistant, Kanchan Bala Das, has provided insight into the situation by stating that Jayanthi Saha was solely responsible for the preparation of all meals. He highlighted that due to a lack of oversight and attention to the management of food preparation, Saha was left to handle everything independently. This lack of supervision contributed to the ongoing issues and fueled the growing resentment among the villagers. In the aftermath of these revelations, a substantial dialogue emerged within the community, with residents urgently seeking a resolution to the distressing situation at the ICDS Center.
