Under the leadership of the block administration, a handwriting competition took place in the Uluberia-I block. It is known that students from all the primary schools in the block participated in this competition. This initiative by the BDO caught the attention of parents and teachers of the students.
When asked about the main purpose of this competition, BDO H.M. Riajul Hoque stated that the handwriting competition was a part of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation). Students from first to fifth grade participated and were provided with information about all the basic rights to vote. He also mentioned that the enthusiasm of the students was quite surprising.
When BDO Riajul Hoque was asked about the reason behind the same, he said that handwriting improves brain development, especially in young children. It engages more areas of the brain compared to typing and helps in the development of fine motor skills, memory, and attention. He added that research shows that writing by hand helps with better retention and understanding of information. This is because it involves deeper cognitive processing, aiding in comprehension and recall.
